We Continue to Show up for Our Students

Friday, March 11, 2022
When I try to reflect on what the last two years have been like, it’s impossible to find the right words, and just when it seemed we had a handle on navigating pandemic life, new curveballs came at us, bringing with it uncertainty, loss, anxiety, and a host of other feelings I struggle to put into words. Surrounded by so much unknown, I take comfort in the sights and sounds of our hallways as we continue to show up, engage our students and support one another.
How easy would it have been to throw up our hands and give up, but it’s so clear to me that that attitude is not even in our purview. Activities are happening, proms are being planned, time-honored traditions such as BTA Scholastic Awards are underway; we are continuing to place the student community at the forefront of our minds because that is simply what we do, and who we are. Parents have expressed their gratitude for our continuity, our academic integrity, our tenacity, whether in the form of a phone call, an email, or a meal...
With everything going on, we continue in the day-to-day tasks that lie ahead of us. The BTA continues to negotiate for a successor agreement with the district. We will continue these talks until we have reached an agreement that is fair for all, one that continues to recruit the best and the brightest while acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the current faculty.
Our next General Association meeting is scheduled for April 13th in Rowe Hall at 3:00. I look forward to seeing you all there. Information will be forthcoming from our political action committee regarding upcoming elections, school budget votes and other relevant information for our members.
March seems to drag on, and maybe our energy is dissipating, maybe we traverse the halls with our heads down, and count the days till that last day of school, but our students, the community and the BTA has your back. One foot in front of the other; one day at a time, and we will all get there together…remember our doors are always open.
