Message from President Rob Richardelli

Below is an important message from Alex Marange, the PA/PR Chair for the BTA on our endorsements for tomorrows Babylon BOE Vote and a list of BOE candidates that NYSUT has endorsed in both Suffolk and Nassau County.

Subject: BOE AND BUDGET VOTE TOMORROW ENDORSEMENTS ATTACHED

Tuesday May 20th is the day to get out and VOTE for next year’s school budget and Board of Education Trustees. Please wear your BTA shirt on Tuesday and make plans to head to the polls before or after work!

Attached you will find the endorsement list for unions across Long Island. If your district is on the list please show them support by going out and voting for the endorsed candidates and the proposed budget in your district.

This year’s election has two open BOE seats and three people running. Two of them are incumbents. We spoke with both incumbents about the last three years and our vision for the future. After our conversations we felt that we were aligned and decided to move forward with an endorsement.

Donna Noesi has been a member of the Board of Education since 2019 and currently serves as Vice President. She has been a Babylon resident for 25 years and a teacher for 30 years. She is a true believer in public education, working to create a learning community tailor made for our small town. Her wealth of knowledge and experience has propelled Babylon onward and upward; her guidance has made the district more fiscally responsible while supporting initiatives that develop programs allowing our students to thrive. Let’s support her and her continued efforts as she seeks reelection.

Ari McKenzie has been a member of The Board of Education since 2022. His vision for the future of our school community focuses on increasing the number of field trips, projecting long-term financial goals, and continuing to explore how technology and AI can enhance our learning community. He is outspoken in supporting our students and staff, encouraging all to strive for excellence. His efforts have propelled Babylon forward over the last three years and we support him in his endeavor to continue to do great work.

This year’s budget spotlights improvements to our facilities, enhancements to our security, support for our programs all while staying under the allotted tax levy increase.

In Solidarity,
Alex Marange
PA/PR Chair
