Support Your School Budget and Candidates Who Support Teachers

With schools closed and large public gatherings discouraged, school board elections and school budget votes will be held exclusively by absentee ballot. This creates a number of headaches for us. We expect many people without children in the school district or people who are less informed about the needs of our district will submit their ballots this year. With state aid expected to stay stagnant or drop due to the financial crisis, it is more important than ever to ensure that our school budget passes, that the budget in your home district passes, and that we elect candidates to the school board who are teacher friendly and support us. Below is a message from our PAC chair, Alex Marange about the candidates that we are supporting.  Ballots will begin arriving in the mail in the coming days, so please keep an eye out for them. Once you have filled it out, please put it back in the mail right away. All ballots must be returned by 5:00 PM on June 9th. Do not wait until the last minute, fill it out and put it in the mail right away.

Support Candidates Who Support Teachers
This year is a year where I must call upon you to stand up and support those that have supported us in good times and in bad. Carol Dell'Erba, Dominick Montalto and Linda S Jurs are running opposed in this year's Board of Education election and they need your support to ensure they stay in. We implore you to reach out to your "Babylon Inner Circles" early and often and encourage them to vote for and support these candidates. Ask them to spread the word too!  These individuals have been strong in their decisions while still being inclusive and collaborative. They believe in hearing the input of those of us who fight in the trenches and using these voices to make their decision. They have always supported us and lead us in successful programs that were brought in by Teachers while at the same time have been fiscally responsible.  They often been a voice of reason in times that have been chaotic such as this pandemic. Please show your support for these candidates and this year's Budget Vote.

For members outside of our district we strongly encourage you to vote "YES" to your budget in your district and support the NYSUT endorsed candidates. If you want teachers to show that we are strong all over New York we need people to know our vote matters no matter what the election is. Please make sure to submit your absentee ballot without haste and make sure you vote with NYSUT. Click here for a list of candidates that are endorsed in Nassau and Suffolk Counties by NYSUT.
