The End of an Unprecedented School Year

Here we are June 2021. A very different landscape from June 2020. The year we thought would never end has come to an end. A remarkable one at that. Throughout this academic school year, we discovered so many things about our school and community. But perhaps the most important lesson, not taught through teams, not shared in one note, is the resiliency of our students, staff and teachers. It has been my privilege and honor to watch us transform our classrooms into virtual ones, on a moment's notice; to see teachers connecting with students and sharing a laugh, whether sitting in front of you or sharing a screen. We connected across whatever platform was available to us. Perhaps not all of the lessons were articulated in writing but what we taught came through in the smile of the students, the supportive word of a colleague or even in the shared exasperated sighs of our coworkers.

But we did it. Despite everyone saying it wouldn't last or we couldn't sustain it, we did just that. We exceeded expectations. So please, take the next few weeks to unplug, recharge and reconnect with friends and family. Enjoy the sun!! Enjoy one another and I look forward to welcoming you all back in September!
