A Message from President Robert Richardelli
At a time when it would have been easy to sit back and question why we are yet again faced with a new challenge, the Babylon Teachers Association answered the call and changed the trajectory of our future. With an “all hands on deck” effort on behalf of the 2023/24 school budget, The Babylon Teachers’ Association successfully campaigned to support our district’s budget. Over 50% of our members joined together, took to the streets, or picked up the phone during one of the most uncertain times facing our organization. We did not take no for an answer. After over 2,000 phone calls, almost 200 homes canvassed, social media shares and union to union outreach, we were able to make our mark and pass the budget, by only 32 votes. The personal time teachers invested in these efforts will pay off ten-fold as we look towards our future.
On to our regular updates:
We will hold our final General Association meeting of the 2022-23 school year in Rowe Hall at 3 PM on June 7. We will be sharing pertinent end of year information as well as voting on our BTA budget for the 2023-24 school year. Hope to see you there!
The BTA will be hosting an excess workshop on June 13 at 3PM in room 314. Information will be presented on the PEL, processes and procedures. All are invited to attend.
We will be hosting our annual Scholastic Awards ceremony on Thursday June 8 on the high school football field. At this event, we award over $8000 in scholarships to our students as well as recognize the academic efforts of our entire student community. It is an amazing opportunity to recognize our students for their outstanding work all year, have some photo opportunities with families, and connect with our colleagues. Be sure to RSVP to secure your spot in the stands!
The finish line is within view colleagues! Stay strong, stay the course and summer on!
