On Friday, June 7th, the teachers of Babylon School District participated in the 4th Annual Shannon Saturno Memorial Softball Game.
This annual fundraiser was developed in memory of Babylon Elementary School Teacher Shannon Romanchuk-Saturno who lost a valiant fight against breast cancer in 2015. Shannon left an indelible mark on the Babylon Community through the relationships she built with students, with staff, and with neighbors.
Thanks to the participation of 20 staff softball players, several student volunteers, and the organizational efforts of Mrs. Linda Fama, the event was once again a resounding success.
Almost $1750 was raised in Shannon's honor to support the following Memorial Scholarships given annually by the Babylon Teachers' Association:
* Margaret Long Memorial Award
* Sharyn Langdon Memorial Award
* Alfred Kalfus Memorial Award
* Dot Wilson Memorial Award
* Cook-Opp Memorial Award
* David P. Rowe Memorial Award
