Testing season is almost upon us and we here at the BTA still believe that nothing has changed with the age-inappropriate state tests. To engage the community on how poorly developed these tests are and the most recent threats against public education, all from BTA are encouraged to attend. BSCTA in conjunction with the Islip and West Islip Teachers' Associations, will be holding a seminar entitled, "Education at the Crossroads" on March 20th. The seminar will include a panel discussion from noted education experts who will discuss vouchers, charter schools, and other real threats to public education. We need to show a strong presence at this event. Furthermore, any parents who are choosing to opt their children out of the state test can download the letter here.
Below, we have also included two important events that are coming up in the next few weeks. First, on March 30th, we're hosting a financial expo at the Union office. Second, NYSUT is holding pre-retirement seminars on April 18th and 19th to go over your NYSUT benefits. Please take advantage of these two important financial planning events.
